Level Builder Best Practices
This page contains some unsorted best practices when using the Level Builder.
-
Don't edit anything in the TankkenLevelBuilder folder. When updating the level builder, you'll lose those changes because Unity will overwrite the files. To make your own extensions,
create normal Unity Editor scripts.
-
To share layouts between levels, use Unity Prefabs.
-
Use version control! Unity works very well with git, which is a great way to back up your project,
keep a change history, and work with other people on the same project. Don't be the next horror story about losing your work.
A .gitignore file for use with Unity can be found here: https://github.com/github/gitignore/blob/main/Unity.gitignore
-
If your Unity project contains multiple level packs, give the Unity scene files descriptive names so you know which pack a scene belongs to.
